Starving on Stained Glass

Starving on Stained Glass 40×30 Acrylic and Gold on Canvas

starving-on-stained-glass

The Church has always announced itself as a friend to the poor.

So many seek food, shelter, and comfort in the faith based social services available when society does not care for the destitute. But to eat, you must first hear the diatribe while you wait.

Eyes of Fallen Kings

Eyes of Fallen Kings 36×36 Acrylic and Gold on Canvas

eyes-of-fallen-kings

A true leader can see beyond the horizon of his own lifetime. There will always be the greedy and the power mongers beckoning. A great leader hears only the voices of the people he represents and considers their future beyond his reign.

In the Past

In the Past 36×36 Acrylic and Gold on Canvas

in-the-past1

Passion lives in the present and in the future.

Sentiment can hold us prisoner to memories we generate in idealistic creativity. It appears beautiful in retrospect.

To continue the odyssey of our lives we must heed passion and hold sentiment as a treasure to carry forward with us.

Village of Sleeping Truths

Village of Sleeping Truths 36×36 Acrylic and Gold on Canvas

village-of-sleeping-truths

Truth exists whether it is recognized or not.

Truth often sleeps in the shadows of well lit houses.

Truth can be found behind ghosts, if we do not settle for apparitions.

Bound to Earth by Wings

Bound to Earth by Wings • 36×36 • Acrylic on Canvas

Inspired by the original  movie, Wings of Desire.

The wings of an angel represents the armor that protects that angel from human suffering.

To experience human suffering, passion, and feelings is also to experience love and life.

When an angel desires to experience human love, the armor falls to earth after him.

The wings of idealism are exchanged for the wings of love.

Approaching Avalon

Approaching Avalon • 36×24 Acrylic on Canvas

Our dreams and aspirations reside in the mists, much like those surrounding the romantic Isle of Avalon. Upon approaching our dreams we come out of the mists to view what we have built. Once viewed, the dream becomes real.

Neptune

Neptune • 30×39 • Acrylic on Canvas

In the upheaval of emotional waters, there is an underlying Neptunian current of blue and gray pulling us under to spew us back to the surface for a brief breath of white clarity before submerging us into the unfathomed ocean of our own feelings.

Poseidon can be cruel with his trident when we are in emotionally unstable waters.

Last Memory of Earth

Last Memory of Earth • 48×36 • Acrylic on Canvas

A perspective from standing on the Earth while simultaneously disassociating ourselves from the Earth, projecting it as an image in the distance. We are distant and detached from the very place we live.

The canvas is scratched and scarred much like we continue to scar the Earth.

The green represents fruition, harmony, and potential abundance but through the subtle yellow of creativity is etched layers of ignorance and indulgence as the Earth we stand upon recedes into a dream like memory.

There is hope in the lavender and an appeal for mercy in the blue of the scars.

Land of Fallen Railings

Land of Fallen Railings • 48×36 • Acrylic, raw pigment, and Gold on Canvas

In a dream I met seven women who pushed over a solid railing to reveal a meadow to me. I was confused as I stood next to them on a high platform with nothing to prevent us from falling. My confusion turned to awe as I looked out into the meadow to see the spirit of all living things, not hiding behind a railing.
